Battery car Passenger ferry at Rs. 30 has become a big hit at Trichy Junction
Senior Citizens or those with luggages can now easily move from the main entrance to any platform at the station using this service
In a very passenger friendly initiative, the Trichy Railway Station provides battery car operated services carrying passengers from platform 1 to all other platforms in the station right up to the East End of the station.
The service charges Rs. 30 per passenger and has become a big hit with the train travellers especially the senior citizens and those with luggage. Those who enter the station from the western side and whose train is on platform 4 or 5 or 6 can now use this service to easily reach their compartment for the battery car takes them right to their coach.
Similarly, those who arrive on platforms 4 or 5 can use this service to reach the main entrance of the station on the Western side.
The Tiruchirapalli station has been a forerunner on many fronts. The Junction has had high quality retiring rooms and dormitories for a long time now (https://prtraveller.blogspot.com/2008/08/retiring-room-tiruchchirappalli.html)
With this ferry service from one side of the railway station to the other, passengers do not have to go up the stairway or the subway to reach other platforms from the main entrance.
